How to install X-Arc
To install X-Arc, just use the supplied installation script.
It will take care of copying all needed files, as well as some
sample configuration files. After that, you can immediately use
X-Arc.
The installer script will automatically check for already existing files, and,
depending of the user level you choose (beginner, advanced or expert), will or
will not ask you to confirm every operation.
Manual installation
- You can also install X-Arc manually by creating a drawer named
"Modules" in the program directory and by copying there all archive
modules you want to use. The modules can actually be placed anywere, as soon as
you specify their paths in preference section "Archive types".
- It is also necessary to install the MUI classes MCC_NList, MCC_NListview e MCC_DirTree if
not already present, or if present in wrong version. If you have the
MCC_HTMLText class installed, you will be able to display this documentation
files directly from within X-Arc.
- The sample configuration files (one for general configuration, one containing
the archive types and one with various file types and their respective
viewers), must be copied both in ENV:X-Arc/ and ENVARC:X-Arc/. If you don't
install those files, X-Arc will automatically import MIMEPrefs preferences (if
exist) when launched for the first time.
- Last, you can copy documentation files in any directory of your
hard disk, as soon as you specify that path in the program preferences. That
will make X-Arc able to display these help files to the user when requested.
